Meet Your Chief Growth Officer

Rebecca Wheeler

Why did you get into senior living?

I just got lucky! My first job out of college was as a staff accountant/financial analyst for a nursing home company. I connected with the marketing department and began doing marketing research and proformas for expansion opportunities. That lead to a job in the field where I learned how to execute a marketing plan. Hint: its all about the people!

Who truly inspires you?

My entire family inspires me – but my mom and dad have been instrumental in supporting and providing an excellent example of what good looks like. Beyond them, I am a TEDTALK junkie. Reshma Saujani: ‘Teach girls bravery, not perfection’ and Tim Urban: ‘Inside the mind of a master procrastinator’ are two favorites! Zig Zigler once said, “People say motivation doesn’t last…neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.”

A thing people would be surprised to know about you?

Probably not surprising but I love roller coasters, karaoke, and murder mysteries!

Beatles or Elvis?

Beatles! Try to see it my way….we can work it out!

How did you wind up at Inspired Living?

Relationships of 20+ years. It’s all about the people!

What do you want your legacy to be?

Judson Manor in Cleveland, OH made the news in 2015 when the retirement community offered free rent to 3 music students in exchange for a monthly serenade. While I love this idea, I am aware there are ~ 23,000 children aging out of the US foster care system annually and ~25% will exhibit PTSD symptoms as a result of being homeless. I would establish a guardian angel program to partner young adults who time out with seniors who are willing to provide wisdom and a home for those who are willing and able to work but need support beyond their 18th birthday.
