Amanda Long

Why did you get into senior living?

Senior living has truly been my passion since I was a teenager. I would drive every day to spend time with my grandfather when he was in a senior care community, and enjoyed the time with him, and “adopting” other seniors that rarely had visitors. I knew I wanted to make a difference in the lives of seniors and headed that direction in college studying long term care administration. I feel very blessed by the opportunities I have been given to lead and serve in senior communities.

Who inspires you?

I am inspired by a lot of people, nobody specific, but those who are less fortunate than most. I think of all the privileges I have, and then think about all of the people that have so little and hardly complain. I am inspired by Veterans, their selfless acts to protect my rights and my freedom.

Beatles or Elvis?

Elvis! I love his music, and how it is so relate-able, and dance-able.

How did you wind up at Inspired Living?

I live near the Lewisville Inspired Living community and drove by it often as it was built. At that time, I had been away from senior living administration and was working in hospital administration, but had been praying about finding an opportunity where I could once again serve seniors. A few days later, I passed by the facility on the way to my gym, and there was a huge banner out front of the Inspired community that said, “We Take Care of Mom’s and Dad’s.” I thought to myself…I have to work there!

What do you want your legacy to be?

Simple! I want my legacy to be love. I want to touch as many lives as I possibly can with kindness and pass on the love and grace that Jesus has shown to me.
