The storm is currently in the Bahamas as a category 5. The size of the hurricane is small compared to other recent major hurricanes with winds that “extend outward up to 45 miles (45 km) from the center, and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (165 km),” according to NOAA.
